Hi, it looks like you have a problem with reading stamina. This is quite a common problem and it is has a lot to do with how well you read.
If we compare a fast and accurate reader with a slow reader with poor comprehension, we often find that the faster reader is making less eye movements and stops. In fact, a faster reader may be moving and stopping their eyes five to eight times LESS than a poor reader for exactly the same amount of words. This is because the faster reader picks a an entire word, or even two or three words in a single eye fixation, whereas the slower reader may require many eye fixations to digest a single word. The poorer readers are in fact doing much more work, making far more many starts and stops with their eyes when reading. This inefficiency contributes to lower comprehension, and increased frustration. Reading is much more WORK for the poor reader and this is one of the big reasons why a poorer reader gets tired quickly.
There are some great strategies for improving your reading stamina including:
a) Improve your vocabulary.
b) Doing lots of reading practice on materials of your reading level. Graded reading materials is best so you can choose stories at an optimal level.
c) Training to improve your reading eye fixation width and efficiency. This is difficult to do without a computer program.
d) Doing comprehension training.
e) regular training on the above
Stamina improvements can be fantastic when you become a better reader. I speak from experience when I say that before the age of about 18 my reading stamina was reasonably poor - I typically could only last 15 minutes or so before feeling tired. I did some speed reading training when I was 19. Now my reading stamina is great - I can read for a number of hours a day without any problem.
