Improved ComprehensionThe RocketReader comprehension testing ensures that you understand what you read. There is a comprehension test for each of the 500+ readings in RocketReader and for all of the speed tests. How RocketReader Comprehension Testing WorksAfter you have completed a reading or a speed test you will enter the comprehension test window. The comprehension tests are in multiple-choice format. The following screen shows the first question in a comprehension test for the reading "Dinosaurs- The Era and Creature - Part 1".
You can type the answer directly into the box and hit Enter. Or, you can examine the multiple choice options (by clicking on the down arrow in the box). This shows you the multiple choice options. Select an option by clicking on it. You cannot change an answer once you hit Enter or have made a selection
RocketReader then shows you the next question.
Once you have answered all of the questions, RocketReader will show you how many you answered incorrectly. The corrected answers are marked in green.
You can scroll back and review the questions that you answered incorrectly.

create your own comprehension tests
Comprehension tests are easy to create. You create your own comprehension tests by writing the questions in a simple format and saving them in text file. (Use a simple text editor such as Windows Notepad or Microsoft Word to create your comprehension file). RocketReader will pick up the matching comprehension file after the relevant custom reading is done. Here we have designed a simple comprehension test that teaches the use of two French verbs "couche" and "coupe". The French verb for "to go to bed, to lie down" is: The French verb for "to cut" is In the above example, the multiple choice options are listed after the sentence relating to the question. For both the singular and plural there is an answer, "<choice>". The list of multiple choice options are listed underneath with the correct option appearing first in the list. For example, the set of options for the singular are "{couche, mentons, occupe, oublie}" with the correct option "couche" appearing first. When RocketReader constructs the actual comprehension test, it will list all of the options in alphabetical order. This ensures that the reader has to work out the correct answer. Once you've finished creating questions, you simply save the file under the same name as your custom reading file but with an extension of ".qmc". In the above example, if the custom reading file is "French_verbs.txt", then the comprehension test file would be "French_verbs.qmc". When "French_verbs.txt" is read, RocketReader will automatically load up and run the "French_verbs.qmc" comprehension test.If there are any errors in the specification of a comprehension text, RocketReader will tell you exactly where in the text file the error was found. You can then correct the error in your editor and re-save the file. Complete instructions for creating these files are under Help in the software. For more information visit www.rocketreader.com. | ||||
